Radio Theater

Class Description: A Radio Theatre class teaches students to create audio-only performances, focusing on voice, dialogue, music, and sound effects (Foley) to tell stories, building imagination and core communication skills like diction, articulation, and pacing without visuals. Students develop character through vocal work, learn sound design (creating sounds with everyday objects).

Clay Arts

Class Description: In this class we will expand our creativity with clay. We will learn about different types of clay, sculpting tools and using a clay roller.
Some projects may include:
miniatures (food or animals), canes, succulents, pinch pots, “painting” with clay, and of course a showcase piece!

In Grandma’s Attic

Class Description: Journey back in time to learn about the life and adventures of Grandma Mabel who lived in a log house on a little farm in Michigan over 100 years ago! A weekly craft will correspond to our read aloud chapter. And the next time you think of a hoop skirt you will be reminded that “a proud heart is a an abomination to the Lord!”

Stop Motion Photography

Class Description: Learn to take pictures to turn them into short films called stop action movies. Students will build on what they have already learned in Photography 1 and put those skills and more to the test.

Class Description: Students will get brief instruction on art history and movements, and then complete projects corresponding with what they’ve learned.

Class Description: A STEM class for kids integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math through hands-on projects, teaching critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity by applying knowledge to real-world challenges. Kids learn to collaborate, analyze, create, and design solutions, building confidence and skills through activities.

Class Description: Step right up to use your correspondence, photography, and art skills for the Koinonia Newspaper and Yearbook! Keep people up to date on field trips, activities, interviews, comics and creative writing submissions (stories and poetry) for the newspaper! Then add to it with creating the yearbook with photos and creative art as well as help take the yearbook photos in February.

Notable Notebooks

Class Description: Planning for the future, recording the present, and analyzing the past, notebooks can help us with all of these. In this class students will learn and practice various methods for planning, notetaking, journaling, personal bible study, habit tracking, and how to review your notes for better retention, plus a bit of doodling.

List of Materials: A notebook (any notebook will do, but a dotted notebook like this is nice), pen, pencil, and a ruler.

Sweeter than Honey

Class Description: This class explores the Bible as a cohesive narrative that reveals God’s character and His desire for relationship with humanity. Students will learn to interpret, think upon, and then articulate its central themes and messages effectively. Through discussions students will deepen their understanding of the Bible’s overarching story of creation, fall, and redemption, equipping them to share these insights with others. We will have a ‘sweet’ time enjoying baked goods/tea while we chat and think upon the sweetness of God’s story.

Biblical Archaeology

Class Description: This class will be based mainly on the work of Joel P. Kramer, a Christian archaeologist who lives in Jordan. We will watch videos (Expedition Bible and Answers in Genesis) and learn about different archaeological sites and how they reveal that the Bible is reliable history that we can trust! We will also learn about general archaeology techniques and practices. We will complete hands-on projects and activities that reinforce what we learn.

List of Materials: A notebook for note-taking on the videos, folder for handouts. If students wish, they may purchase Where God Came Down (it’s a cool book!) but it’s not required.

Class Description: Have you ever wondered how to not embarrass yourself at a wedding reception? Are you fascinated by different cultures and their dancing traditions? Do you yearn with nostalgia for the social dancing graces of a Regency assembly? Then this class is for you! We will learn group dances that span history, culture, and even modern society. You will learn everything from the electric slide to the Virginia reel, from the hora to the sirtaki, and maybe even some hula and country line dancing!

Tactics: Thinking Clearly and Speaking Faithfully

Class Description: Students learn how to engage conversations about Christianity with clarity, confidence, and charity – using questions rather than arguments to meaningfully engage competing worldviews. Students will use the Greg Koukl classic book Tactics: a game plan for discussing your Christian convictions.

Survival of the Skilled

Upcycled Art

Class Description: Students will practice upcycling by transforming materials into something new with a different purpose or use.

Aesop’s Fables

Brickety Clickety (Lego Challenges)

Some classes include a fee to cover the cost of materials for the class. We do all we can to keep the fees minimal. Fees will be collected at the Mom’s Tea and Information Meeting.
Please do not let money be the deciding factor in which classes your family chooses. If you can’t afford the fees for a class your child wants, please mention it to the leadership team and will be happy to work with you.
